Char Dham Yatra
Overview
The Char Dham Yatra is a revered Hindu pilgrimage to four sacred sites nestled high in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. “Char” means four and “Dham” refers to religious abodes. This arduous yet spiritually fulfilling journey typically visits Yamunotri (source of River Yamuna), Gangotri (source of River Ganga), Kedarnath (Lord Shiva’s abode and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas), and Badrinath (Lord Vishnu’s abode). Pilgrims undertake this clockwise circuit from May to October, seeking spiritual purification and moksha (liberation from the cycle of rebirth).
