Tour Plan

  • Morning: Depart from Delhi early morning for Chandigarh (approx. 4-5 hours drive).
  • Afternoon: Upon arrival in Chandigarh, visit Mata Mansa Devi Temple in Panchkula (near Chandigarh). This is a prominent Shaktipeeth and a significant first stop. It's believed that wishes are fulfilled here.
  • Evening: Check into your hotel in Chandigarh. You can also do some light sightseeing in Chandigarh like Sukhna Lake or Rock Garden if time permits.
  • Overnight: Chandigarh.
  • Morning: After an early breakfast, depart for Shri Naina Devi Temple (approx. 2-3 hours drive from Chandigarh) in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. This temple is perched on a hilltop, and you can reach it by stairs or a popular ropeway. It's believed that Sati's eyes fell here.
  • Afternoon: Drive to Mata Chintpurni Devi Temple (approx. 2-3 hours drive) in Una district, Himachal Pradesh. This is another major Shaktipeeth where it's believed Sati's feet fell. Devotees visit here to seek relief from worries.
  • Evening: Check into your hotel near Chintpurni or Una.
  • Overnight: Chintpurni/Una.
  • Morning: After breakfast, drive to Mata Jwala Ji Temple (approx. 1-1.5 hours drive) in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. This unique temple is famous for its natural, eternal flames that burn without any fuel, representing the goddess. It's believed Sati's tongue fell here.
  • Afternoon: Proceed to Mata Brajeshwari Devi Temple (also known as Kangra Devi Temple, approx. 1 hour drive from Jwala Ji) in Kangra. This ancient temple, often rebuilt due to invasions and earthquakes, is a powerful Shaktipeeth where Sati's breasts are believed to have fallen.
  • Evening: Drive to Dharamshala/Kangra for your overnight stay.
  • Overnight: Kangra/Dharamshala.
  • Morning: Visit Mata Chamunda Devi Temple (approx. 30-45 mins drive from Kangra/Dharamshala). Situated on the banks of the Baner River with the Dhauladhar range as a backdrop, this temple is dedicated to the fierce form of Goddess Durga, who slayed demons Chanda and Munda.
  • Afternoon: Explore Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj. You can visit the Dalai Lama Temple Complex, Bhagsu Nag Temple, and Bhagsu Falls. While not Devi temples, these offer a spiritual and cultural experience.
  • Overnight: Dharamshala.
  • Morning: After breakfast, embark on a longer drive to Katra in Jammu & Kashmir (approx. 6-7 hours drive). This journey takes you out of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Afternoon/Evening: Arrive in Katra, check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day resting and preparing for the Vaishno Devi trek. You can explore the local market.
  • Overnight: Katra.
  • Full Day: This is the most significant and often most strenuous part of the yatra. Start your trek to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine (approx. 12-14 km uphill trek, takes 4-6 hours for a one-way ascent). You can choose to walk, hire ponies, palanquins (pithoos), or take the helicopter service (book well in advance).
  • Darshan: Seek blessings at the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, a manifestation of the Mother Goddess.
  • Descent: After darshan, trek back down to Katra.
  • Overnight: Katra. (Consider staying an extra night in Katra if you want to pace the Vaishno Devi trek over two days, or if you prefer to visit Bhairon Baba Temple on the way back).
  • Morning: After breakfast, drive to Amritsar (approx. 4-5 hours drive). While not a Devi temple, Amritsar offers a significant spiritual and historical experience.
  • Afternoon: Visit the magnificent Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest shrine of Sikhism. Experience its serene atmosphere.
  • Evening: Witness the patriotic Wagah Border Flag Retreat Ceremony (requires early arrival to get good seats).
  • Overnight: Amritsar.
  • Morning: Visit Jallianwala Bagh, a historical site commemorating the tragic massacre.
  • Afternoon: Begin your journey back to Delhi (approx. 7-8 hours drive).
  • Evening/Night: Arrive in Delhi, concluding your sacred Nau Devi Darshan.
  • Mata Baglamukhi Temple: Near Kangra, dedicated to the goddess of power and knowledge (yellow color is prominent). Can be included after Jwala Ji/Brajeshwari Devi.
  • Sheetla Devi Temple: There's a Mata Sheetla Devi Temple near Chintpurni/Una which can be visited on Day 2 or 3.
  • Nau Devi Cave Temple, Katra: A separate cave temple near Katra dedicated to the nine forms of Durga, usually visited by those seeking a deeper experience in Katra itself.
